Day 5, Fri Today, join our optional excursion to Versailles. Relive the glorious period of Louis XIV, XV and XVI as you pace one of the largest and most influential formal gardens in the world. Today's tour takes you Versailles Palace to witness the grandeur of French classical architecture. Visit the Palace and extravagant State Apartments, including a guided visit to the Reception Halls, the Queen's Bedroom, and the Hall of Mirrors. You will also have time to walk the palace grounds and formal gardens, designed by Andre le Notre, at your leisure. Day 7, Sun Day at leisure or choose an optional tour exploring ancient Rome. Via the famous Piazza della Repubblica, pass Piazza Venezia and the square of the Capitol, and admire the unique sight of the Forum, Colosseum and Palatine Hill, one of Rome's most ancient parts. Stop for a walk along the ancient pavement of the original Roman grid, which crosses the ruins of the Roman Forum, the Curia, and the Reggia. Enjoy views of the Temple of Vesta, the Arch of Titus, and the triumphal Arch of Constantine. Continue the tour towards the Circus Maximus, Aventine Hill, and the Pyramid of Caius Cestius, ending with a visit to the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls ($41) (B): ROME

Day 8, Mon This morning choose our optional tour to the Vatican museums. Depart from the Piazza San Bernardo and travel to view the Fountains of Naiadi in the center of the Piazza della Repubblica. Continue past Via Piemonte, the Aurelian Walls, Porta Pinciana, the Muro Torto, and the Villa Borghese on Pincian Hill. The tour continues to the Vatican Museums and Galleries, where you will find the Round Hall, the Hall of the Greek Cross, and the Tombs of St. Helen and St. Constance. From here, visit the Sistine Chapel and behold the great frescoes by Michelangelo. Proceed to the Galleries of the Chandeliers, Tapestries, Geographical Maps, and the Vatican Library Hall ($58) (B): ROME
